Garden Suites and Carriage Houses
BC Housing is offering a Secondary Suite Incentive Program with up to $40,000 toward building a new affordable rental suite.
Secondary Suites covered under the program can be a typical basement secondary suite, or an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), in-law apartments, cottages, or small residential unit. They can be attached to the principal dwelling or an entirely separate unit, located above a garage or in the backyard on the same property.
You may want to add a secondary suite to your property to provide social and personal support to a family member, or to obtain greater income security.
